I was completely gutted by Blur’s performance at the end of the Brits. I’m a huge fan of Blur; their music shaped my teenage years and soundtracked my growing up. They were wholly deserving of the outstanding contribution award, but not on the merit of the shambolic shouty mess that was the end of the ITV1 show. It was almost fitting that the opening chords of “Girls and Boys” played in against a background of boos as Adele’s speech was cut off (an unforgivable slight, and Damon’s fault for his ramblingly interminable and tedious acceptance speech).

But now I’ve found this - the other two songs they played, over on ITV2. Why, why, why did they not lead with this? This is the Blur I want to see. Damon singing, not shouting. The instruments working together, not ripping each other apart. And songs; real, beautiful songs…
